Hello, my name is Wendy and I am owner and founder of Spring Gate Stitchery. I live in Chicago and I work a typical 9-5 in healthcare. However, work is not my life and I’ve always had a passion for art. I love to paint, draw, and create with my hands. This love for art was a gateway into needlepoint.
Like many, I fell in love with fiber artistry in 2020 and felt like I found both a community and an opportunity for solace.
As I became more involved, I noticed that while the community was growing rapidly, the canvas market wasn’t always keeping pace with what many stitchers were looking for. I found myself searching for canvases that felt both meaningful and accessible—designs inspired by the charm of Americana and traditional folk art, but interpreted in a way that felt fresh and modern.
When I shared these thoughts with fellow stitchers, I discovered many people felt the same way. There was a desire for designs that honored classic American motifs—timeless symbols, regional traditions, and folk art influences—while still feeling relevant to today’s stitchers.
So, since I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I did the obvious thing: I began designing them myself.
Spring Gate Stitchery was created with the mission of offering thoughtfully designed, high-quality canvases that celebrate Americana and folk art traditions while remaining approachable and affordable for stitchers of all skill levels.
